Slow Roots Farm

Slow Roots Farm

Mathew Levinson

Slow Roots Farm is a small-scale organic farm and plant nursery located in Kemptville, Ontario. We grow and sell vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings to home gardeners and garden centres in the Kemptville and Ottawa region.
Our seedlings are grown using only organic methods and are grown with care to ensure they are of the highest quality for you, and the environment.

There is beauty and reward in watching a crop grow from seed to seedling to table through your own hard work, love and care.

At Slow Roots Farm we believe that slowing down and appreciating this process of growth can help to foster a strong connection between gardeners and the food they consume. And we want to help foster that connection — that’s why we always grow with quality, sustainability, and community in mind.

Miller’s Bay Farm

Miller’s Bay Farm

Shannon & Robert Miller

For more than 125 years, the Millers have been pouring into this little family farm. As the 4th generation, we look back with admiration and gratitude; and forward with hopeful expectation of what’s still to come.

Besides Ready-Picked and Pick-Your-Own Strawberries, Miller’s Bay Farm grows a variety of vegetables. These include – but are not limited to – Asparagus, Beans, Tomatoes, Cucumbers (yes, the pickling type too!), Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Squash and Pumpkins.

The village of Lombardy is the closest ‘dot on the map’ to the farm. Smiths Falls and Perth, both within a short – and pleasant – drive, are our nearest town centres.

We look forward to welcoming your family to our farm, which is also our home!

Tammy Bannon & Steve Baker

Tammy started a small road side stand 28 years ago, but it did not grow into a full fledged farm until Steven arrived on the scene. Since then, it has flourished. Everything is grown naturally. With lots of compost and elbow grease, and without the use of herbicides or pesticides.

We grow a wide range of fruits, vegetables & herbs, with our specialty being heirloom tomatoes, garlic, fresh greens and squash. We are also part of a local food hub that brings farm fresh eggs, organic milk, and additional produce.

Products:

All fruits & vegetables as they come into season including produce from Niagara, Belmond’s organic Dairy and Beking’s free run eggs to make it a one stop shop.

Indian Creek Orchard Gardens

Indian Creek Orchard Gardens

Marisa Buccione & Scott Sigurdson

Indian Creek Orchard Gardens is an organically managed micro farm, intimate in scale. We are nestled on five acres along the shores of Indian Creek, just outside Pakenham. At Indian Creek Orchard Gardens we are experimenting with a hybrid of permaculture, agroforestry and organic farming principles. Our vegetables are alley cropped between rows of fruit trees, bush fruits and aisles of grape vines. We have purposefully left tracts of our farm wild, especially on the creekside.

We value what nature brings to the table and attempt to work with it, bringing our intervention to a minimum. We favour low tech, 100% natural, cultural and biological practices over chemical and heavily mechanized ones. Some of what we are attempting to do is tried and true and a lot of it not so much. Every day in the garden is a lesson.

Our goal is to provide a satisfying stream of safe, organic, wholesome fruit and vegetables for our community the whole growing season long.
