Rochon Garden

Rochon Garden

Gerry, Diane & Jonathan Rochon

“I love growing,” says Gerry Rochon who is following a family tradition by doing just that. Diane echoes the sentiment. “I find it so rewarding seeing tiny seedlings become plants that produce fruit and vegetables.” Eighteen years of that tradition and passion have today become Rochon Garden where Gerry and Diane grow fruits and vegetables on 150 acres of fields and in a dozen greenhouses.

It takes a team to nurture, harvest and then prepare the produce for sale, so the Rochon Garden ‘family’ expands to include both local and migrant workers during the summer months. From May until October, Diane and other Rochon Garden staffers are familiar vendors at all the major Ottawa area markets. The Rochons are members of OFA and Eastern Ontario Berry Growers associations.

Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm

Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm

Earl Stanley

Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm has been open for business since 1993, though the farm has been in the family since 1786. It is a diverse business with its roots in maple trees and of course the delicious liquid gold that comes from those trees, maple syrup. The 200-year old sugar bush is open from early March through mid April and features a petting farm, a heritage sugar shack, museum, tractor-drawn wagon rides and a pancake breakfast at the 300-seat Pancake House restaurant.

Earl says that “a love of people” inspired the transformation of the farm to its current state as a popular reception locale for weddings, corporate functions and large or small private parties.
