Tammy started a small road side stand 28 years ago, but it did not grow into a full fledged farm until Steven arrived on the scene. Since then, it has flourished. Everything is grown naturally. With lots of compost and elbow grease, and without the use of herbicides or pesticides.

We grow a wide range of fruits, vegetables & herbs, with our specialty being heirloom tomatoes, garlic, fresh greens and squash. We are also part of a local food hub that brings farm fresh eggs, organic milk, and additional produce.

Kevin and Stephanie Mathieson

Kevin Mathieson is a classically trained pastry chef with serious chops in the kitchen. He and his wife Stephanie, created Art Is In Bakery as a place to nourish their shared passion for food.

Dense, delicious, naturally leavened, exquisite loaves made from scratch is the heart and soul of what we do, and where it all began. But there is much more to Art Is In Bakery than bread; we also offer a large selection of mouth-watering, handmade viennoiserie inspired by the fine boulangeries of Paris. Our edgy café-bakery breakfast and lunch menu features egg dishes, gourmet sandwiches, soups and daily specials. We start with real ingredients, and sometimes swerve in wildly decadent directions with one goal in mind. Making you happy. Every day.

Since we started our business by selling fermented products such as Kimchi and sauces, which are essential parts of Korean cuisine, at farmers’ market in Ottawa in 2012, we have been expanding our profile by offering a well-known Korean dish, Bibimbap, at a food cart downtown and at farmers’ markets. We are proud to showcase authentic Korean flavors in an approachable way and to work closely with the local community towards environmental sustainability and a healthy life. Raon [ra:on] means ‘greatly pleasing, enjoyable and cheerful’ in Korean. You will be delighted and happy whenever you try our foods.

Amandine Baked Goods

Elena Slatculescu

“I was raised on a vineyard in Romania”, explains Elena Slatculescu. “Now, my garden in Kanata has become a retreat where I still grow grapes, sour cherries, apples, plums, and seasonal vegetables for my family”. Proud to continue family traditions, Elena incorporates homegrown fruits in a variety of decadent Romanian desserts and preserves that can’t be found anywhere else in Ottawa.

Traditional Romanian desserts, such as brânzoaice(cheese pastries) and pască (cheese brioche), originated from Ancient Roman influences while other popular cakes (Amandine, Savarine), cookies (butter-walnut), panettone/brioches (cozonac), confectioneries (Turkish Delight), and preserves (sour cherry, plum) are a fusion of French, German-Austrian, Ottoman and Eastern European influences. Elena started Amandine Baked Goods to introduce Ottawa to the unique cuisine of her Romanian heritage.
