Evans Family Farms

Evans Family Farms

John & Chris Evans

John Evans has been a beef cattle farmer in the Pontiac for most of his life. Growing up in Ottawa, John spent his summers on the family farm before eventually moving there to raise a family and take over the operation.  Along with his wife Judi, John is responsible for the day-to-day. With the help of their partners, son Chris and daughter Jordan plan for and manage the overall sustainability of the farm.

Located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, Evans Family Farms is situated between the banks of the mighty Ottawa River and the meandering Rivière Noire (Black River). The gentle rolling hills and largely forested landscapes of the property offer a balance between agricultural opportunities to produce local food and wilderness preservation that adds to long-term ecological integrity.

John and son Chris tell stories of life on the farm through the photographs they share on social media, which offers customers a more intimate connection to the food they produce.  The natural environment remains biologically diverse, complete with large predator and prey relationships, numerous bird species, and reptiles all living on or migrating through the property.
