Coopérative Aliments Farmhouse Food Cooperative

Coopérative Aliments Farmhouse Food Cooperative

Welcome to Farmhouse Food Cooperative!

We are a farmer owned and operated cooperative based in the Ottawa/Gatineau region. Our farmers came together in 2019 when we realised there was a gap in the availability of local food boxes containing products from multiple local farmers and producers. We are proud to be offering a home-delivered whole food box sourced from multiple producers of vegetables, fruit, cheese, eggs, meat and other high quality local products. We offer our products through a subscription system that is similar to a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) where members commit upfront to our farmers for the growing season and in return they are guaranteed a portion of the bounty each week throughout the harvest season. This model helps to create a stable local food system that provides farmers with reliable income and eaters with reliable sources of fresh, local food.

Products:

Harvest Boxes – organic local food including – produce, dairy, eggs and pastured meats

Jeff and Jenna Fenwick

Located approximately 15 minutes north of Sharbot Lake in the Hamlet of Mississippi Station, Back Forty Artisan Cheese is a small farm, sheep dairy and licensed riverside bistro. All of the raw sheep milk which is used
to craft their traditional unpasteurized cheeses comes from nearby family run farms.

With a core focus on animal welfare, land stewardship, quality home grown feed and pasture, these farms are able to achieve the highest quality milk which is carefully refined into the most delicious cheese through the natural process of fermentation.

Back Forty believes in a more traditional hands on approach to cheese making. They are a small owner operated company whose primary goal is providing a unique and great tasting cheese.

Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork

Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork

Marshall Buchanan & Kathleen Lindhorst

We farm 275 acres in the beautiful & rugged Upper Ottawa Valley, near Eganville. After years of consulting, Kathleen (M.Sc. Nutrition, McGill 1997) and Marshall (M.Sc. Forestry & Environmental Studies, U of T, 1994), could see that convenience was replacing nutrition and industrial farms were supplying low-cost food at great cost to nature. In 2000 we started with 50 acres and combined our skills to grow produce and raise livestock in a caring and ecologically sustainable manner. In 2014 we opened our commercial kitchen to make gourmet foods using the organic (uncertified) meat and produce we grow. Currently, we offer agritourism accommodation and experiences on our regenerative agriculture, heritage farm.

Products:

Agritourism – farm stay, farm experiences, bike stop, event hall, public washroom.
vegetables, grass-fed Scottish Highland Beef, pasture-raised goat meat, organic eggs, gourmet foods made from our own ingredients such as potato-cheddar perogies, grass-fed beef sausage rolls, squash ravioli, quiche and butter tarts..

Location:

1320 Scotch Bush Road, Douglas, ON, K0J 1S0

Production Practices:

Vegetables – Organic Methods (uncertified).
Livestock – Scottish Highland cattle are raised in a closed herd, cow-calf operation giving us full control over animal care from birth to slaughter. We do not buy stockers. Cattle are exclusively grass-fed and are antibiotic and hormone free. Highland Cattle are particularly well suited to an exclusive grass-fed diet. Our goats range pastures and forests.
